Norwalk, Connecticut-based HomeServe USA Corp. has acquired another Valley-based HVAC company.

The company, which provides service plans, repair and installation services for the home, on Dec. 16 acquired Mesa-based Sterling Air Services, which offers a range of cooling, heating, plumbing and water services to residential customers throughout the east Valley area, HomeServe announced. The financial terms of the deal weren’t released.

Founded in 2008 by Joel and Anastasia Harris, Sterling has built a solid brand and reputation, according to HomeServe, and will continue to operate under its name. The Harrises will continue running the business. Sterling has grown from Joel Harris working as a “one-man-in-a-van” small business to having 18 employees, including 12 service technicians.

Joel and Anastasia Harris have built a company with a keen focus on customer service that is a perfect match for HomeServe,” Rob DiPietro, HomeServe’s managing director of HVAC,” said in a statement. “Sterling, along with our two other Phoenix-area companies, Dukes of Air and Hays Cooling, Heating and Plumbing, will go a long way to helping HomeServe serve more customers in the region.”

HomeServe, which serves more than 4.5 million customers across the U.S. and Canada, has been on a growth spurt in the West, acquiring four Phoenix area companies since 2019.

HomeServe spokesman Myles Meehan said the company is always looking for top quality contractors to join its network.

“The Phoenix metro area is one of our top markets nationally, and we want to ensure that we have the right team in place to service our customers, as well as to grow and service the customers of our acquired companies,” he said in an email.

Mesa-based Dukes of Air LLC was acquired by HomeServe in a deal that closed Nov. 17.

Founded in 2013 by husband and wife team, John and Tonya Kubacki, Dukes of Air has about 30 employees that serve HVAC customers in the East Valley. Dukes made this year’s Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing private companies in the nation.

Earlier in 2020, HomeServe acquired Phoenix-based Hays Cooling, Heating and Plumbing, and in 2019, it acquired Mesa-based American Home Guardian, a boutique real estate-focused whole home warranty company.
