At that time, I was not thinking I would make a career out of the job. HomeServe was also just testing the water on WFH agents and look at us now, we are all pretty much working from home. I am proud of learning skills in the contact center and utilizing them to further my career. I’m glad that I took a chance on HomeServe because they took a chance on me. I used the tuition reimbursement program to complete my bachelor’s degree which is my most proud moment at HomeServe. Without HomeServe I doubt I would have gone back to school.

Establishing a presence in any business can be challenging. But as a woman and an African American woman to be precise, it augments the challenges to the road of success. HomeServe has been very instrumental is setting a platform for chance, career opportunity, and achievement. I began my career here in 2013, but was initially denied for the applied role. Seeing potential and willing to take a chance on me I was offered a different position in the business in which I accepted. This was the start of a very rewarding career path. I have been able to learn multiple areas of the business, opportunity to hold several leadership roles, and a winner of the most prestigious President’s Award in 2020. I would have to say that my most proud achievement would be the influence and support I am able to give within my position to empower African American women just like me. When I was growing up, my aunt helped run a Black newspaper that has a century of history in New York. The institution of journalism has been vital as our people fought for justice, dignity and the ability to tell our own stories. I worked in newspapers for 17 years before I came to HomeServe because I believe, and still do, that staying informed is essential to being a good citizen.

I am a person that loves jewelry. I love to look like a million bucks but not spend it. So when I heard about Paparazzi Jewelry, I fell in love. Then I realized I could become an independent consultant and buy it wholesale, even cheaper than buying it from someone else. Once I started doing that, I realized that I could have my own business doing this, making the money that will support my habit of buying jewelry. So I started my business, Trechelle’s Jewelry Box. I post recordings of jewelry on Facebook so people can order, I perform lives so my customers can view real time. I also have a website that they can go on and order the jewelry that I may not have on hand (trechellesjewelrybox.com). All they have to do is register as a customer and they can see all the inventory online. It has been a rewarding experience for me. Doing something that I love, and changing the world by helping people look like a million bucks for only $5.

Hello my name is Renitta Haynes and I am a Sr. contractor recruiter for Homeserve. Outside of HomeServe I am the owner and operator of Raising the Bar Soap Company. It is an all-natural soap and skin care company. We specialize in Vegan Soaps, Body Butters, Lotions, Creams, and Candles. HomeServe as well as EPIC BRG has supported my business on two separate occasions. I was a participant in last year’s BRG EPIC Black History Month Market and I was able to provide custom pamper baskets for the Human Resources Dept in Chattanooga, TN. I really appreciate HomeServe for not just being a great employer but also for supporting and believing in my business.

I am the new area sales manager for both Texas & Atlanta Georgia. Outside of HomeServe I have a photography business that operates during the weekends and special occasions. I am very proud to be African American and Hispanic. I grew up in New Mexico and was raised by my mother who is also Hispanic & African American. Over the holidays I got the pleasure of hearing the story of how my grandparents met. My grandmother being Hispanic and my grandfather being African American was something that wasn’t tolerated back in the 50s. The obstacles they had to overcome were very challenging, my grandmother was exiled from her family & was forced to live outside of her home. The love the two of them shared carried on to 55 years of a happy marriage. Their values on life, love and faith have carried on through each one of us. I am one of 100 grandchildren & I love my big family.
